Back in 2019 I discovered Jail Socks through their EP It's Not Forever and was immediately hooked on the band. This EP became part of my playlist rotation in 2020 (Spotify wrapped confirmed) and was really there when I needed some music to escape to. It's Not Forever is a high energy 20 min blast of noodly guitar riffs and drums that I would absolutely recommend to check out!
This lead me to be very anticipated for Jail Sock's debut full release that was set to be released in 2021 (along with Awakebutstillinbed which is yet to come out). So what was the verdict? This debut exceeded my expectations in the best way!
The amount of growth and maturity this band has displayed in just 2 years is phenomenal. Everything is just that much catchier and has hooks for days! It reminds me of the fun times I had with bands like Third Eye Blind and the Gin Blossoms, just some great quality rock hits to sing along to. Not only that but the lyrics matured to more then just singing about girls and breakups. Now it's more looking at ones self and realizing it can be yourself that needs to improve too. It's something I can get onboard with!
This album has been such a treat and I look forward to more play times while cruising around the car and taking a stroll through the neighborhood with fall colors.
