Shapes I've Never Seen is an album I always get drawn to this time of the year, when the daylight lasts for vast spans of time and the heat puts you into a trance. It can feel like time is slowing down and you are in this floating alternative space. Then you may add substances to mix of it all and you have a trip. These elements that all cumulate into the perfect space to listen to an album like Shapes I've Never Seen.
Seriously, take a walk or bike as the sun is starting to set, it's been over 30 degrees out and you've been in the sun all day, hopefully by some water. You are winding down for the day but are still a bit dazed and hanging onto those last rays. That's the feeling that this album evokes. It takes one on an ethereal trip that's a bit distorted from reality. That's sometimes the best space to think about things that you haven't in sometime, like how lemon drops are never as good as you hope they will taste or how David Bowie's eyes had different sized pupils.
I was first put onto Have a Good Season from a Spotify playlist, where Joe makes excellent mixtape style playlists and has inspired my own playlists. I would recommend checking his profile out to get turned onto some great music!
To go on a quick side bar, it looks like I'm getting to the point of this blog where I'm losing track of who I've covered. I suppose that can be considered a good thing, since it means I've done a few blog posts now (over 100)...or that my memory is worse off then I thought. Either way, I was certain Have a Good Season was covered in my blog at some point but once checking a couple times, no I haven't. It's a darn shame too because that's over 4 years of time I've been jamming to Have a Good Season and not mention them at all! So please take a listen this season and enjoy the summer vibes!
