Amanda Marshall-Amanda Marshall (1995)

Why I like it:

This album had a huge influence in my music taste as a young girl. Along with other great female lead acts such as Sarah McLachlan and Jann Arden, it was a great time for this type of music. Amanda's voice is powerful, soulful, and uniquely hers. Out of the other artists that were popular in this time, I believe she voice was in the top tier!

I absolutely love this self-titled album still to this day. If you want to have all the feels with grandiose moments then I highly recommend it. Playing Let it Rain while in a rainstorm rivals no other for the ultimate soul wrenching feels.

Check out this album if you loved those anthemic anthems of the 90s!

Deaf Havana-All These Countless Nights (2017)

Why I like it:

Deaf Havana are a rock band from England that have changed their sound almost every album. At the beginning they were post-hardcore, then they changed singers and started playing more folk styled rock music for their next couple releases. Now comes All These Countless Nights, with the pop/rock styles, and by golly they made another great piece of music!

All These Countless Nights have some heavy hitting lyrics that go into James Veck-Gilodi's personal struggles. It was impactful for me because the issue he brings up are very relatable. Layered with the catchy pop/rock hooks and you have me hook, line, and sinker!

I would like to thank Mark from The Spectrum Pulse for re-introducing me to this fantastic band. I remember them from the 2009 post-hardcore era but I never did look into them more. Deaf Havana are a joy to follow and I would recommend checking out their whole discography. You just never know what direction they might take next!
